Duties: Box Tops generates roughly $3,000 a year in funds for the Caraway PTA, and is an important component of our fundraising activities.  There are 2 major responsibilities:
(1) Two Box Top drives in Sept/Oct and Jan/Feb. Box Tops issues two checks per year, one on Dec 15 and 1 on April 15.  The deadline for Box Top submission is typically Nov 1 and March 1.  Submissions outside these dates carry over to the next year.  We typically have a few contests to increase participation. Students bring Box Tops in to their teachers and then the chair/volunteer collects them from the classroom and mails them to the Box Tops folks.
(2) Prepare flyers/e-blasts letting Caraway families know about special Box Top deals, deadlines, contests.
Time Commitment:  In the months leading up to a submission there is at least 2 hours a week for collection and sorting, and communicating with the Caraway families.  The week before a submission it takes at least 8 hours as volume really increases near the deadline.  It takes at least 1 hour to prepare and mail a Box Top submission.  Contests are more time consuming as a spreadsheet needs to be kept tracking class performance.
